Bill Franklin Volunteer of the Year Award
This award recognizes outstanding reporting about higher education by individual representatives of the news media. For materials published or broadcast in from November 1, 2008 and October 31, 2009, CASE District III will present awards to individuals in two categories: print and broadcast media. Judges may select one Grand Award winner in each category. Grand Award winners receive $500. Other recognition awards will be presented to finalists in each category.
Eligibility: Members of the working media who have published articles or broadcast programs from November 1, 2008 and October 31, 2009 in the Southeastern District, or whose work outside the district concerns an institution or institutions in the district. The district includes
Employees of CASE-member institutions and their family members are not eligible. The media, as defined for this award competition, means newspapers and radio and television stations concerned with the general public and not directed primarily to the education community. A compendium of one journalist's work for the year and a series on a specific topic by a team of writers or an individual shall be considered one entry. Advertising supplements are not eligible. Please send a brief description of the entry and circumstances under which it was produced. Please include the name of the person to be recognized, his/her title, media organization and address, and your name, title and address, email address, and phone number as well as a copy of the reporting nominated.

This award recognizes the vital role of volunteers in institutional advancement. A volunteer is any non-staff person who assists in advancing the institution through programs such as fund-raising, alumni relations, and student recruitment. Volunteers may not be nominated posthumously. Institutions may nominate only one individual. Nominees are judged on their overall volunteer contributions, and on the long-term effect of these contributions on the institution and education. Nominees may be trustees; they may be, but need not be, alumni.
Nominations must be accompanied by an entry form, a biographical summary of the volunteer's accomplishments (up to three typewritten, double-spaced pages), and up to five letters from individuals supporting the nomination.
The recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award will be recognized at the CASE III Conference in

This award recognizes the partnership projects between private businesses/organizations and educational institutions that result in creative solutions to advancement issues. One award may be made annually. Recipients will be recognized at the annual CASE III Conference awards dinner.
Entries must be submitted in a three-ring binder and include downloaded entry form; a typed summary of up to four pages describing the project, including objectives, implementation, budget, specific roles and responsibilities of the business and the institution, staff resources, and results. In addition to the summary, publicity materials, photos, and other materials may be included that help to further explain the nature of the project and its results.
