CASE District III provides three categories of scholarships for its district conference to be held February 5-8, 2006, in Nashville, Tennessee. Our goal is to provide an opportunity for you to benefit from continuing education and networking opportunities with colleagues throughout the Southeast. If you are not eligible, please encourage individuals who would benefit from this valuable opportunity to apply! Read below for specifics. For the 2005 Conference, 26 scholarships were awarded.

(1) Minority Advancement Professionals Scholarship Program

Specifically designed to assist minority (African-American, Asian, Hispanic, Native American) advancement professionals working full time at a District III CASE member institution with waiver of the conference registration fee and reimbursement up to $300 of receipted travel expenses (hotel, meals, and transportation) related to attending the District III annual conference. The scholarship is not transferable to other individuals and is applicable for use only in the year awarded. The winner or his or her institution must be prepared to fund any travel expenses that exceed the approved scholarship reimbursement. In addition, the winner must register for and attend the Opportunity and Equity Program and Luncheon (luncheon fee will be waived).

Eligibility
We ask that previous scholarship winners not apply. Previous winners of CASE national scholarships are welcome to apply for this program. For the purposes of this program, CASE District III seeks individuals from underrepresented ethnic groups.

Selection Process and Criteria
A committee of CASE District III volunteers selects recipients on the basis of (1) the candidate's experience, (2) the candidate's ability to express him/herself as outlined in the personal essay, and (3) the candidate's statement about the resources available for career development at his/her institution. Preference is given to people from institutions with extremely limited resources.

Entry Instructions and Checklist
Complete the Application form and review the following checklist. Applications must include all of the items listed below. Letters are not permissible when instructions call for an essay:

  • Complete the scholarship application form designating the "Minority Advancement Professional Scholarship" box.

  • Prepare a concise essay describing in 250 words or less: (a) the value you will receive from attending the conference; (b) the value your institution will receive from your attending the conference; and (c) your institutional resources (If limited resources prohibit your institution from sending you to a CASE conference, please describe the circumstances here. Preference is given to applicants from institutions with limited resources.).

  • Include a short statement from your supervisor stating his or her support of your application.
  • Attach an up-to-date resume of no more than two pages.

  • Have your supervisor sign your application form unless you will be personally responsible for all expenses in which case you should sign the appropriate area.

(2) Newcomers Scholarship Program

The CASE III Newcomers Scholarship Program is specifically designed to assist professionals with less than three years of advancement experience with waiver of the conference registration fee and reimbursement of up to $300 of receipted travel expenses (hotel, meals and transportation) related to attending the District III annual conference. The scholarship is not transferable to other individuals and is applicable for use only in the year awarded. The winner or his or her institution must be prepared to fund any travel expenses that exceed the approved scholarship reimbursement. In addition, the winner must register for and attend the Newcomer program and luncheon (registration fee for program and luncheon will be waived).

Eligibility

For the purposes of this program, CASE III defines a newcomer as:

  • Any full-time professional with less than three years experience in alumni relations, communications, advancement services, or fund raising; or

  • Any full-time professional who has moved into a new professional area within the past three years (for example, from alumni relations to fund raising).

We ask that previous winners of any newcomer scholarship not apply. Previous winners of CASE national scholarships are welcome to apply for this program.

(3) Student Delegate Program

CASE District III welcomes and encourages the participation of current undergraduate and graduate students in the District Conference. The District will provide the selected students the opportunity to attend the conference as student delegates by offering a waiver of fees for the conference registration and New2CASE session, in addition to reimbursement of up to $200 in receipted travel expenses.

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be juniors, seniors, or graduate students who are currently enrolled in a CASE III member institution and interested in pursuing a career in Institutional Advancement.
  • Applicants must be part-time employees or volunteers in Institutional Advancement at a CASE member institution.
  • Applicants must be able to attend the entire CASE District III Conference and New2CASE session.

Selection Process and Criteria:

A CASE District III Volunteer committee selects winners on the basis of (1) the candidate's experience and (2) the candidate's ability to express him/herself as outlined in the personal essay. Preference is given to people from institutions with extremely limited resources. We ask that previous scholarship winners not apply.

Entry Instructions

  1. 1. Complete the Scholarship Application Form.
  2. 2. Attach to the form a typed letter (no more than one page) briefly explaining your reasons for attending the CASE District III Conference. Address what you hope to gain from participation as a Student Delegate.
  3. 3. Provide an additional data sheet that contains the following information:

• Home address
• Home telephone number
• Cumulative grade point average
• Major and (if applicable) minor
• Career interests
• Name of your institution’s CASE III Member representative
