Professional Development Sessions - New to Case!
At every Case 3 Conference, there will be plenty of great sessions that help us develop the fundamentals needed to become stronger in any of the particular disciplines of advancement. This year, in keeping with the "Fundamentally Sound" theme of the conference, we have developed several unique programs that will go a long way in helping you become the consummate "well-rounded" professional. Turning Coaches into Fundraisers (Professional Development)
Winning ways to coach your coaches on playing for the fundraising team while increasing expectations they set for themselves and their programs. Better understand the roles played by coaches and athletic administration in fundraising. Many times athletics can be the portal to transformational gifts. Rich Petriccione is a former Division I Assistant to Coach Jim Valvano, a D-I Basketball Coach, D- I Athletic Director, Assistant to the President and is currently the Vice President for Advancement as well as a Part Time consultant. He brings a unique perspective to the role of Athletics and the coaching staff in the overall University Advancement effort.

Credentials in the Advancement Profession…What helps and what’s new? (Professional Development)
Is earning a Masters Degree in Institutional Advancement, the CRFE, or other designations important in increasing your potential and enhancing you career? Tim Caboni is a faculty member in the Higher Education Leadership and Policy Program and serves as Director of the Institutional Advancement program--the nation's only academic program devoted solely to the preparation of advancement professionals for colleges and universities. He teaches courses in fund raising, external relations, alumni relations and university management for higher education.

Working with the CFO: Wisdom from the Business World (Professional Development)
Lassen, a former senior executive with Amoco, left Chicago and the Business Sector and came to Higher Ed and Hattiesburg, Mississippi. One of his first moves at USM was to change his job title from VP to CFO. He will offer a perspective valuable for the advancement professional on effective collaboration with the CFO resulting in mutually satisfactory outcomes.

Leadership Lessons from the National Outdoor Leadership School (Professional Development)
Frank Pisch, a nationally recognized fundraising authority and the past Board Chair at N.O.L.S., shares some valuable insights from the wilderness that have meaning for the present day advancement professional. You won’t want to miss this “natural” presentation with universal leadership application. (Also, The N.O.L.S. bus, a vehicle powered completely by vegetable oil, will be on site with staff members to provide additional info on an array of leadership)
Speaker: Frank Pisch, Chief Executive Officer, The Compass Group. He has previously been the Vice President at the Association of Governing Boards, Director of Development for the Baltimore Symphony, and a top executive at both Ketchum, Inc. and First Council. He has spent fifteen years as a volunteer for N.O.L.S. and is in his sixth year on The Board of Trustees.

Golf as a Development Tool…including tips for beginners & high handicappers! (Professional Development)
Fore! This session will explore ways that advancement professionals can make the most out of opportunities with alumni, donors, and prospects in a golf setting. Whether it’s at a campus course, a country club, a municipal facility, or a more extensive group golf travel destination, you don’t have to be Tiger Woods or Anna Sorenson to score on the golf course, to be a success! Dr. Thompson has trained over 20,000 people in 500 workshops and seminars in forty states. He has been selected by the Institutions of Higher Learning as the Entrepreneurial expert for the State of Mississippi.

Etiquette for the 21st Century (Professional Development)
Proper dining etiquette is a necessary prerequisite skill that all advancement professionals should be up to speed on. This informative and interesting session will offer a refresher course that will take the guess work out of which utensil should be used in certain situations. Questions and Answers and a pop quiz may or may not be sprung upon us. Lisa Blackburn has been an Aramark specialist for the last ten years. She is a frequent guest speaker on many campuses in the Southeast and has been a favorite of college seniors and alums in preparing them for career interview over lunch or dinner.
